25 hours of dedicated crime busting
On Saturday, 6 October 2018, the Brackendowns SAPS Police Station, Brackendowns CPF Patrollers and local private security companies in the area will be joining forces to embark on a 25 hour crackdown on crime in the area.
Linda Goodenough, Community Development Manager for Fidelity ADT says there is no doubt that community engagement is one of the primary ways of reducing crime. “We need to have ‘more bobbies on the beat’. High visible patrolling is a clear deterrent to crime. This patrol is a sign that we are taking the problems experienced by the local community seriously.”
The crackdown will commence at 07:00 at the Brackendowns police station. CPF Patrollers of Brackendowns have offered 25 hours of their valuable time and petrol money and sleep to do a 25 hour patrol to look after the community, right through the day and the night.
The joint initiative will intensively patrol all the crime hotspots at “hot times” as well as random public spaces. Areas that will be patrolled include Brackendowns, Brackenhurst, Meyersdal, Mayberry Park, Albertsdal, Alrode and Thinasonki.
Any CPF members that would like to join the initiative are also welcome.
