Widespread rain this week has resulted in flooding in a number of different areas in Gauteng. On Monday flooding occurred on Leslie Avenue at the intersection of Juweel street in Jukskei Park; on Witkoppen between Douglas and Chrisoliet Road and on the corner of Jacaranda Avenue and Hornbill.
Motorists have been asked to seek alternate routes during these temporary closures.
Uninterrupted service delivery to these areas is particularly important, particularly when it comes to security. Commenting on access to the areas, Theunis Kotze, ADT General Manager Inland Region reassured residents explaining that they do not need to feel vulnerable in any way.
“We have dedicated patrol vehicles covering the Bryanston and Fourways and Douglasdale areas and they will be allocated alternate routing schedules during the flooding periods so no one is cut off from the patrols.”
“We do however urge all drivers to be patient and cautious on the wet roads and to allow themselves extra travelling time. We also do not recommend you attempt to drive over any bridge or road which is submerged in water,” concludes Kotze.
