On Tuesday 11 February the team from African Bank joined hands to support children at the Ekhurhuleni School for the deaf, handing over new beds and bedding for the Girls Hostel and officially opened the newly refurbished Computer Lab. The school begins at grade RR and goes up to grade 9 and only strictly takes in Deaf Children or those with profound hearing loss. The mode of communication is Sign language.
Kennedy Dembetembe, National CSI Manager for African Bank, says, “In our efforts to make a difference we were proud to hand over a cheque for R1,1 million to Kwaphenduka Projects who run our Gauteng Online Computer program in public schools. They were also responsible for assisting us with the Lab being refurbished at the school.
African Bank Chief Risk Officer Piet Swanepoel was also on hand at the official handover.
