Beast visits gateway school

This week, rugby giant, Tendai “BEAST” Mtawarira, well-known and loved Sharks and Springbok prop and an ambassador for Fidelity ADT, visited children at  Gateway School in Ruimsig to share his secrets to success.

Nicholas Govender, community development manager for Fidelity ADT says, “It was a pleasure to visit the school which caters for learners with special education needs and see the reaction of the children to their hero.”

Fidelity ADT have recently partnered with Gateway. “We were so impressed with the outstanding work the school is doing that we wanted to relieve some of the financial burden by helping to take over the security.”

Beast is a regular visitor to many of the schools across Gauteng and often talks to the children about how to stand up to bullying which is a general problem in many schools. “A lot of attention is paid to cyberbullying but the real threat often sits in the playground and the classroom. Children are five times more likely to be bullied at school than online and recent stats show that 87% of bullied children have in fact been bullied at their school,” says Govender.

These visits and talks complement the already very successful schools programme Fidelity ADT run on security with Mr ADT. “The opportunity to expand this programme with someone like Beast who the kids all idolise made a lot of sense,” concludes Govender
