The total poles now monitored exclusively by Fidelity ADT in the Westrand has grown to 165 Vumacam poles with 377 LPR cameras and 270 CCTV cameras.
According to Wahl Bartmann, CEO for Fidelity Services Group, this effectively increases the overall LPR coverage over the greater Johannesburg area to over
2 400 LPR cameras.
Bartmann says the CCTV surveillance cameras are all fibre-connected to Vumacam’s advanced Tier-3 datacentre and the feed is streamed in real-time to two Fidelity ADT command and control centres in Ulwazi campus, Midrand and in Helderkruin respectively. All information is stored securely for 14+ days. “Both control rooms ensure that the intelligence produced by the entire group gets fed into the system so that the best possible proactive alerts can be gather to benefit all the various communities served by the Group,” he says.
“We appreciate crime is a concern for all South Africans and this solution adds an additional layer to the security ecosystem and allows for more efficient, proactive monitoring and an optimal response protocols,” he says.
“Operating in isolation is not an option these days. We rely a lot on information received from our customers, SAPS, community associations and other relevant parties. Customers have also been educated to become more vigilant in their approach to security. This two-way communication has resulted in us not only offering a reactive security service but also a proactive one. The addition of technology significantly strengthens this approach and the resultant drop in crime levels,” concludes Bartmann.
