It often takes just a little bit of faith and a great deal of enthusiasm and commitment to turn something bad into something good.
Fields College hockey is the perfect example. Four years ago in 2016 Field had only three hockey teams and they performed so poorly that they could not even tour to other schools and leagues.
It was at that time that Mr Adriaan Bester was employed as the head coach. He believed in the school and the kids and through hard work and dedication and a lot of commitment he managed to build the school hockey up to 7 teams of boys and girls. Today they are touring all over the country and three boys were even chosen to tour to Netherlands in December last year.
“This is such a wonderful success story we wanted to help in some way and could think of no better way than providing the team with a brand new 2020 kit,” says Maurice Malan, Fidelity ADT Branch Manager Rustenburg and Brits. Malan says the school has such a strong girls 1st team now that they will be competing in the Twizza pre-season, in the North West league and they stand a chance to make it to the Noordvaal Playoffs for small schools.
“It really is a case of never say never and can’t is a word which definitely does not feature in any of the heads of these children. We are so proud to be able to celebrate their success and move forward with them on their exciting journey.
“It was my privilege to meet the principle and all the girls from the 1st team to handover their kit. We are involved in our communities so investing in the school and this team made perfect sense for us,” says Malan.
“We wish the Fields College First team the very best during the season and will be supporting the team all the way,” he concludes.
