The Fidelity ADT teams were out in force on Saturday 13 July to support runners participating in the highly successful Race Against Cancer which took place in Orlando, Soweto.
Approximately 1500 residents supported the drive to raise awareness around cancer participating in the 5.10 or 21km scheduled races. Cancer continues to affect a significant proportion of South Africans. Prostate cancer is the number one cancer in males and breast and cervix cancer the number one cancer in females. According to the National Cancer Registry breast cancer was the most common cancer for women of all races in 2013.
Kwanele Moyo, Community Development Manager for Soweto says it was wonderful to see so many supporters on the day. “We were very proud to be able to supply the security on the day with one of our Specialised Response Units, two Special Reaction Units as well as a water station.”
Other sponsors included Hollywood Bets (Fidelity ADT client), SAPS Gauteng, Orlando AC, Run Walk for Life Midrand and Fourways branch and Jozi Fm.
“The event was a huge success and it allowed us the opportunity interact with the community of Soweto. We are looking forward to the next one in December,” says Moyo.
