Joint ops in Westdene results in two arrests

In a concerted effort to clamp down on crime in Westdene the South African Police Services joined forces with Fidelity ADT’s special response unit and other private security companies to conduct a crime prevention operation on 21 February.

The team did stop and searches of individuals and premises. Two suspects were arrested for the possession of marijuana. The property where the arrests took place is in fact a hijacked building that has been an issue for residents of the community. The residents are appealing to the council to deal with the property as they believe criminals are residing there.

Natasha Springfield, Community Development Manager for Fidelity ADT, says, “These joint operations are highly successful and really make a difference in terms of driving crime out of these areas. We will continue to work with the SAPS in this regard,” she concludes.
