A total of 76 traffic fines were also issued and various quantities of liquor, dagga and counterfeit goods were seized during the operation.
Brigadier Moodley from Sandton SAPS concludes, “We were very happy with the overall success of the day. Having the Premier onsite as well as the MEC for Community Safety illustrated the importance of the initiative and the commitment to seeing an integrated approach to fighting crime in the city. This multi-disciplinary law enforcement initiative is the most effective way to address crime. It not only includes all the parties listed above but also pulls in the “green Scorpions” – our environmental safety task team as well as the Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit (VCIU).”
Brigadier Moodley extended a special thank you to Fidelity ADT and all the other private security companies that were there to assist the teams and said he looked forward to building even strong relationships with all parties in the interest of combatting crime.
