Meet and greets are a valuable crime deterrent, says ADT
With follow-home crimes still so prevalent in South Africa, residents are urged to make us of the escort service if this is one the benefits offered by their private security provider, recommends Clive Humphrey, Managing Director of ADT Central Region.
“There are still reports of motorists being followed from the airport, banks and shopping centres. It’s important to remember that a number of security companies offer their clients a ‘meet and greet’ service. An officer meets clients at their residence and ensures they get inside safely. The officer will also generally do an inspection of the premises on arrival to ensure all is well,” he says.
“This service is a very valuable crime deterrent as one of our clients, a trustee at Abington Close in Bryanston, explained in a letter recently sent to ADT.”
The client wrote: We arranged a meet and greet with your officer for visitors that we had collected at the airport arriving from overseas. The officer was ready, alert and waiting when we phoned from the Bryanston off-ramp and standing opposite our gate when we arrived – very valuable service.
“This service is freely available, so there’s no reason to take any chances. If you however find yourself in a situation where you suspect you are being followed drive to your nearest police station or security guard hut or boom and ask for assistance,” concludes Humphrey.
