The Pretoria community is starting to see the benefits of the new remote jamming detector devices that have been installed at identified hotspots across the region.
Fidelity ADT’s Community Development Manager, Gerrit Rheeder says, “We have been installing these devices as part of a community awareness campaign where there have been spikes in incidents of theft out of motor vehicles. To date we have installed 21 devices at various hot spots ranging from schools to petrol stations and retail outlets. Feedback from customers had been very positive with a distinct decrease or complete elimination of vehicles being stolen,” says Rheeder.
10 of the devices have been installed at Brooklyn Mall following consultation with Brooklyn SAPS and the feedback has been excellent.
The simple devices alert the public to possible lock jamming activity so they can double check if they’ve successfully locked their car before walking away. “Residents are now more aware of the activity in the area and the educational boards act as a good reminder,” he says.
Rheeder says even the car guards have become aware and vigilant.
