On 1 May, Fidelity ADT Security Officer Sfiso Mahlangu received a call from the Garsfontein Control Room saying that that a community member had reported on the local Whatsapp group that a person was lying beside the road on the corner of Matroosberg and Drakensberg Street in Waterkloof Heights, Pretoria.
He immediately responded and, on his arrival, found a man unconscious lying next to the road. “I assessed the man and requested medical assistance,” says Mahlangu. A medical team arrived shortly afterwards and took the man to a local hospital. It was later discovered the he had had an epileptic fit.
Later in the week Officer Mahlangu received a commendation from a local community member who had experienced a break-in over the Easter weekend. The resident thanked him for his dedication and for the additional patrols he has been doing past the property since the break-in.
“We are exceptionally proud of Officer Mahlangu for his willingness to help and for his compassion,” says Leon Muller, District Manager Fidelity ADT. “He deserves all the accolades and thanks he is receiving from the residents.”
“We are proud to have him part of the team. Our Officers are trained to deal with all kinds of scenarios but so often go above and beyond to help our community members,” he says.
