On 12 August at around 13:00 Fidelity ADT received a panic button activation from a business in an office park in Lyme Park, Randburg. Within two minutes Fidelity ADT Reaction Officers Proud Ncube, Piet Mohale, Sibusiso Mncube and several others arrived and surrounded the business premises where a suspected armed robbery was taking place.
A managing director, Pushpinder Singh, of another business in the office park had called Fidelity ADT. He says two of the officers then entered the identified premises. “With their exemplary courage and presence of mind they quickly established that the robbers and their victims were in fact actors performing for a video film, which also featured fake guns. We realise that this situation could have very easily escalated into a nasty event. We were truly impressed by the lengths the security officers went, their job preparedness, completeness of their work and professionalism,” he says.
Steven Bronks, Community Development Manager Fidelity ADT, says the officers were relieved to find it was all a misunderstanding. “We respond to all alarm calls with the utmost seriousness and thoroughness. Fortunately, in this case it ended with laughs on a film set,” he says.
Singh says the entire episode further enhanced his feeling of security with Fidelity ADT. “Upon any alarm activation, Fidelity ADT’s prompt telephone response, personal courtesy of those calling and the armed response have always been noteworthy. I compliment the officers on the quality service provided,” he says.
