Reaction Officer David Mabuza got more than he bargained for when he responded to an alarm activation at a retail warehouse on Leeuwkop Road this week just before lunch. On arrival the security officer pointed out three suspects who were trying to hijack a motorist at a robot not far from the store.
Officer Mabuza immediately called for backup and with the support of Fidelity ADT Reaction Officer Mashudu Budeli, they were able to apprehend one of the suspects, while the other two were apprehended and arrested by Sandton SAPS.
Steven Bronks, Community Development Manager for Fidelity ADT, says they are seeing a lot of opportunistic crime at the moment and warns motorists to be especially vigilant. “We are going into a lockdown period but motorists will still be travelling to collect food or medical supplies and the same safety principles that apply normally need to be adhered to,” he concludes.
